Operation Pegasus Jump Registration 2024

Situation:

Veterans, Serving Military and First Responders are considered to be at a greater risk for developing Operational Stress Injuries and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder than most other occupations.

Mission:

Operation Pegasus Foundation, in partnership with Campbell River Skydive Centre, will host and conduct the First Jump Course, tandem skydives and experienced jumps in order to build robust relationships within the Veteran, Serving Military and First Responder community and to challenge the individual by taking them out of their comfort zone.

Event Details:

Our main event will be the First Jump Course, with the option to continue through the student process once completed. Registration for the First Jump Course is on a first come first serve basis, and we cap the First Jump Course of each Roto at 54 participants. Experienced jumpers as well as Tandem skydives will also be conducted throughout the event, with no cap on either of these. There will be a meet and greet BBQ on the first and last day of each rotation. There will be two rotations this year. Please see specific dates below in the schedule.

Campbell River Skydive Centre is a veteran owned drop zone, and their primary staff volunteering for this event consist of many retired Search and Rescue Technician, Airborne Regiment and Jump Company veterans who are all certified skydive coaches and instructors.

If you do not want to or are unable to skydive we still welcome and encourage your attendance at Operation Pegasus Jump to experience the camaraderie.

If you are unable to attend and would like to donate to Operation Pegasus Jump, donations can be made on our donate page here.

First Jump Course:

*Due to safety requirements, there is a weight restriction of 250 lbs to participate in the First Jump Course.

During the first jump course, you will be taught the techniques and skills necessary to make your first skydive safe and enjoyable. The curriculum includes detailed instruction on the operation and use of the equipment as well as practical training using a suspended harness and an aircraft mock-up.

The ground school takes approximately 4 to 5 hours and once completed, your first jump will be made from 3,500 feet where your instructor will initiate the deployment of your main parachute as you leave the airplane. After you’re under a good parachute, you’ll maneuver it yourself while under radio guidance from an instructor on the ground. We train you to fly and land your parachute. Once you have landed, your instructor will provide a full debrief of your jump with you and will fill out your logbook.

Once your first jump has been completed you have the option to continue through the student progression to work your way up to achieving your solo license.

Campbell River Skydive Centre will provide all equipment required to perform a skydive.

Please ensure you bring running shoes to wear for the jump. Check out our website for more details www.campbellriverskydivecentre.com

Tandem Skydive:

*Due to safety requirements, there is a weight restriction of 220 lbs to participate in a tandem skydive.

On a tandem skydive, you’ll jump from 10,000ft securely attached to an experienced instructor and freefall for over 5,000 feet at speeds of up to 200km/h. To prepare for the jump, your instructor will give you a brief overview of the jump and will assist you in gearing up. While attached to your instructor, together you will exit the plane, descend in freefall, and pilot the canopy safely and gently to the ground.

Campbell River Skydive Centre will provide all equipment required to perform a skydive.

Please ensure you bring running shoes to wear for the jump. Check out our website for more details www.campbellriverskydivecentre.com
