Getting Here

Operation Pegasus Jump takes place at the Campbell River Airport, hosted by Campbell River Skydive Centre. The drop zone is at 1759 Airport Drive, Campbell River, BC, about 10–15 minutes from downtown Campbell River.

By ferry
From Vancouver (Horseshoe Bay), take BC Ferries to Departure Bay in Nanaimo.

From Tsawwassen, take the ferry to Duke Point in Nanaimo.

From either terminal, head north on Highway 19 (Inland Island Highway) and follow the signs for the Campbell River Airport. The drive takes about 1 hour 45 minutes from Departure Bay, so plan for 2 hours. Duke Point adds about 10–15 minutes.

Flying into Campbell River Airport (YBL)
You’re already there! The drop zone is on the airport grounds at 1759 Airport Drive.

Flying into Comox Valley Airport (YQQ)
Campbell River Airport is about 45 km north, roughly a 40–50 minute drive on Highway 19. Car rentals are available at the airport.

Please note: Participants are responsible for their own transportation, so plan to rent a car, or arrange a ride ahead of time.

No. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the event, including from the ferry terminals and airports. See “How do I get there?” above for directions.

This is a great opportunity to reach out and connect with old friends who will also be at the event.

Free camping is available on site at the Campbell River Airport, but space is limited. Tents, trailers, and RVs are all welcome. There are porta-potties on site, but no power or water hookups, so please come prepared. Let us know during registration if you plan to camp on site.

If you’d rather stay in town, downtown Campbell River is about a 15-minute drive and has plenty of hotels, motels, and B&Bs. Accommodation costs are each participant’s own responsibility. For more information, email us at oppegasusfoundation@gmail.com.

Jumping

Yes. Skydiving depends on the weather, and safety always comes first. Wind, low cloud, and rain can delay jumping, and our instructors watch conditions throughout the day. Any weather holds will be communicated to you once you’re on site. Weather usually clears, but if your jump can’t go ahead, you’ll be scheduled first thing the following day.

If you’re doing a tandem, we’ll do our best to get you in the air. As soon as the weather clears, tandems are our first priority. Staying at the drop zone gives you the best chance of getting your jump in, though we know that’s not always possible. If the forecast looks uncertain, leave plenty of time in your day around your jump time so a weather delay doesn’t cut it short.

Please arrive by the time given when you booked. That gives us time to get you registered, sign your waivers, and walk you through a proper safety briefing before you gear up.

Arriving late can push back your jump. We have a full day of jumpers to get in the air, so if you miss your slot, we may not be able to fit you in right away.

Event

Yes. We provide basic meals throughout the day, enough for quick meals between the first jump course and getting all the students in the air. We’ll also host one big barbecue during the event for everyone to enjoy and mingle.

We try to accommodate dietary restrictions, but we can’t guarantee it. If you know you’ll need a bigger meal or have health concerns, please plan ahead and bring what you need, or set aside time to head into town.

Campbell River has lots of great restaurants, some with beautiful ocean views, if you’re looking for something more substantial.
